Instagram Influencer And Bodybuilder Dies At 39 After Tragic Fall From Apartment Building

A Brazilian fitness influencer has passed away at 39 after reportedly falling from the top floor of her apartment building, a death that has sparked concern and questions among her followers.

On November 13, nutritionist and bodybuilding coach Diana Areas was found outside the Unique Towers condominium located in the Parque Tamandaré area of Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil.

Areas, who regularly posted workout routines and nutrition advice to more than 200,000 Instagram followers, had visited a hospital earlier that morning. She left on her own despite staff advising her to remain under care.

Many of her supporters have since filled her social media posts with condolences after reports that she fell from the top floor of the building where she lived.

Authorities said she was found in a communal area of the complex shortly after her partner contacted police for help.

Before her death, Areas was evaluated at Ferreira Machado Hospital at around 6:30 a.m. that same day, where staff noted she had cuts on her wrists and neck, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Medical staff described her condition as “moderate,” and she received stitches as well as a tetanus shot. She then reportedly left the hospital before she could be formally discharged at 10:30 a.m.

Her body was later transported to the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) in Campos dos Goytacazes at 12:30 p.m., only a few hours after she walked out of the hospital.

Officials have now opened an investigation into her death, with the Civil Police of Campos dos Goytacazes handling the case.

On Instagram, friends, acquaintances, and long-time followers have continued to share emotional messages as they try to process the news.

“Rest in peace my friend. May you calm your soul down there with our father. Sorry we couldn’t help you,” one person wrote in Portuguese.

A second commented: “I can’t believe you’re gone. Rest in peace beautiful.”
