Conservative activist and close President Donald Trump ally Charlie Kirk was pronounced dead less than three hours after being shot during a public event at Utah Valley University.

At 4:40 p.m. EST, Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that Charlie Kirk had died after being shot in the neck in a horrific scene. The President offered his condolences to Kirk’s family in the heartbreaking announcement:

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Multiple camera angles of the senseless shooting were posted on X/Twitter, and we warn you to exercise extra caution on the platform if you’re disturbed by graphic material.

Charlie Kirk was at the university for a stop on his American Comeback Tour:

Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA and served as the CEO of Turning Point Action. He was one of President Trump’s most well-known supporters, had over five million followers on X/Twitter, and garnered more than one billion total views on his YouTube channel.

The suspect still has not been identified or caught. We’ll provide more details on the suspect when they become available.

Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika, and two young children. Our thoughts are with his family during this horrific time.
